Terms & Conditions
1. Definitions
“SAAD”, “we” and “us” means South African Aircraft Detailing. “You” and “the Client” means the person or entity engaging us. “The Aircraft” means the aircraft identified in our quotation.
2. Quotations
- All work is quoted individually. We do not publish fixed prices.
- Quotations are valid for 30 days from the date of issue.
- A quotation is based on the aircraft type, location and condition as described to us. If the actual condition differs materially from what was described — for example significant staining, biological contamination or paint defects not disclosed — we will stop, tell you, and issue a revised quotation before continuing.
- Quotations exclude travel outside our core service area unless stated.
3. Scope of Work
We carry out cleaning and detailing work only. Specifically, we do not:
- Remove, loosen or refit any bolted-in, screwed-in or secured component;
- Open inspection panels, cowlings or access hatches;
- Carry out, certify or sign off any maintenance task;
- Touch, clean or adjust engines, propellers, rotor assemblies, pitot-static ports, static wicks, antennae, sensors or probes unless expressly agreed in writing;
- Move, tow, start, power up or reposition the Aircraft.
Any of the above is aircraft maintenance and is the responsibility of a licensed aircraft maintenance engineer or approved maintenance organisation. Where positioning or power is required for our work, you must arrange it.
4. Products and Procedures
- We use aviation-specific products appropriate to each surface. Transparencies receive acrylic-safe product only.
- Where the Aircraft manufacturer, owner or operator has a cleaning procedure or approved-products list, you must tell us and provide it. We will work to it. Where none is provided, we will apply the most conservative method available.
- You confirm that you are authorised to instruct cleaning of the Aircraft, and that you have disclosed any restriction applying to it.
5. Damage-Check Process
This process is a condition of our service and protects both parties.
- Before any work begins, we carry out a walk-around of the Aircraft with you or your nominated representative, and photograph existing marks, chips, stains, wear and damage.
- That photographic record is shared with you, normally on the same day. If you do not raise an objection within 48 hours, it is taken as the agreed record of the Aircraft's condition before work started.
- On completion we photograph the Aircraft again and provide the before-and-after record.
- Any claim for damage alleged to have been caused by us must be raised in writing within 48 hours of completion, so that we can inspect it while the evidence is fresh.
Where a representative is not available for the initial walk-around, our photographic record taken at the start of work stands as the agreed condition record.
6. Access, Site and Safety
- You are responsible for arranging hangar, apron or airside access, and for any permits, escorts or security clearances required.
- We comply with the airfield's safety rules and with any operator-specific requirements you tell us about.
- Where water or power is needed and not available on site, tell us in advance so that we can quote accordingly.
- If we arrive and cannot access the Aircraft for reasons outside our control, a call-out fee may apply.
7. Payment
- Unless agreed otherwise, payment is due within 7 days of invoice.
- For first-time clients, or for work above an agreed value, we may require a deposit of up to 50% before starting.
- Standing fleet and monthly plans are invoiced monthly in arrears.
- Payment is by electronic funds transfer to the account shown on the invoice. We do not request banking details by email — if you receive such a request, treat it as fraudulent and telephone us to confirm.
- Overdue amounts may attract interest at the rate permitted by law.
8. Cancellations and Rescheduling
- More than 48 hours' notice: no charge.
- 24 to 48 hours' notice: up to 50% of the quoted value may be charged.
- Less than 24 hours, or no access on arrival: up to 100% of the quoted value may be charged.
- We will not charge a cancellation fee where the cause is weather, an airfield closure, an operational requirement affecting the Aircraft, or anything else genuinely outside your control. We would rather reschedule.
- If we need to cancel or reschedule, we will tell you as early as possible and will not charge for the affected visit.
9. Liability and Insurance
- We carry insurance appropriate to working on third-party aircraft. Details are available on request.
- We accept responsibility for direct loss or damage caused by our negligence, subject to the damage-check process in section 5 and to the limits of our insurance cover.
- We are not liable for pre-existing damage, for defects or deterioration revealed (rather than caused) by cleaning, or for damage arising from undisclosed restrictions or prior treatments.
- We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss of charter revenue, loss of use, or delay costs.
- Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008.
10. Photography and Publicity
Condition and completion photographs are taken as a record of our work. We will not publish any image of your Aircraft in marketing material without your prior written permission, and we will obscure registration marks on request. See our Privacy Policy for how these images are stored.
11. Personal Information
We process personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 and our Privacy Policy.
12. Complaints
If you are unhappy with any part of our work, tell us within 48 hours of completion. We will inspect and, where the complaint is justified, re-do the affected work at our cost. We would always rather put something right than argue about it.
13. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and the parties submit to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.
